Did God Let You Down?

Have you ever felt like God has let you down? Depending on God to do something that you cannot do for yourself can be a daunting task. Especially to those who are used to depending on traditional and conventional methods of accomplishing things. I have noticed that the most stressful times in life are when I have to depend on God when I know that if He doesn’t do it, there’s no other way it can or will be done.

When we depend on God to do something or hope that God does something and it doesn’t happen, it dashes our dreams immediately. Our confidence is shaken and maybe even our faith. We may start to question if God really loves us, if God heard our prayers and maybe even our status with God. I remember wondering if God even considered me one of his because there were so many things not going my way. There were many things that I was praying for and really wanted and felt I needed and God did not do what I expected. I was shaken and afraid and didn’t really know where to go from that point. What do I do now? Where do I go? How will this be fixed?

I found great comfort in this. God reveals things to us in a way that is not expected. The scripture 2 Peter 3:9, ” The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ” What this scripture really spoke to me was that God had not let me down at all. By NOT doing those things that I was asking Him to do, He was removing the things that weren’t meant to be done. If I am going to let God govern these areas of my life, then I must conclude that whatever is not good for me, He should not do. When I really looked back on the situation, I was grateful that God didn’t do what I wanted because what He did do, in His timing was a perfect solution for my problem. God promised He would do it and I can tell you assuredly that He has ALWAYS done it! I am grateful to God in this hour that by my standards He let me down, but by His standards, he elevated my requests.

Go in peace people of God. He will fulfill all that He has promised and more. As we always say, He may not come when you want Him to but He’s always on time. God never shows up a second late for any midnight hour problem…He is God of the eleventh hour!
